January 14, 2016  It is with a heavy heart that I announce that our Fast Pitch Director, Alsie Jack has passed away on January 14th, 2016. Alsie was a huge asset to the softball community, both as an umpire on the field and as an administrator off of it. Alsie was just an amazing person. He touched so many lives in this sport, not only in DRUM, but across the world. He will be missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Sandra, and kids Toni, Crystal, and Aaron along with their families during this difficult time. For information on services for Alsie, please click here October, 2015Congratulations to Doug Webster, who was selected by Softball Canada to represent Canada in the inaugural Softball Canada - Softball New Zealand Exchange program. In the summer of 2015, an umpire from New Zealand came and umpires at two Canadian Championships. From December 31 to January 21, 2016, Doug will visit and umpire across New Zealand, including two national championships and a major local tournament.Congratulations Doug! February 21, 2014 Alsie Jack was awarded the Zone-Umpire-in-Chief of the year award from Softball Ontario for his work with the program in 2013. March 7, 2013 Doug Webster has been nominated by Softball Canada to represent Canada at the upcoming ISF Junior Women's World Championships, to be held from July 1 to July 7 in Brampton, Ontario. This will be one of the very few times an international tournament of this caliber will be in our own backyard, and have one of our umpires working at it. Mark your calendars and come on out to support Doug in his first international assignment. February 15, 2013Dan McHarg was awarded the first Doug Cundall Slo-Pitch Umpire of the Year Award at the Softball Ontario Awards Banquet. Congratulations Dan!!! January 8, 2013Alsie Jack has been selected by Softball Ontario to serve as the Zone 8 Zone Umpire in Chief. Alsie has been the Director of Fastpitch for DRUM for a number of years, and will continue to fill this role with DRUM in addition to this new role with Softball Ontario. We wish Alsie the very best with this new role! November 18, 2012DRUM annual general meeting was held at Valleyview Community Centre in Oshawa, ON. A good turn out of umpires and some very good discussion was generated. One reminder for 2013: All umpires are required to submit a Criminal Information Record with the Vulnerable Sector Screen completed by the start of the 2013 season. |
